SUBJECT:   The location-wise total number of Industrial units established in the country during the last two years 2008-09- 2009-10:

SOURCE: Industries Departments of all Provincial Governments and Export Processing Zones Authority.

 As per their statements, a total number of 704 industrial units have been established during the last two years in Punjab, Balochistan, Khyber Punkhtunkhwa, Sind and EPZA with the following break-up:-

                        A detail showing type of industrial units and district-wise location in each province is at Annex-I.

 2.                     Furthermore interalia:

i) In the Province of Balochistan, all five industrial units are being established in Quetta Industrial and Trading Estate Quetta. Out of these five, three are in Steel Sector, one is “Rice Processing Units and one is tobacco Sector. As per statement of Punjab province, no such proposal is under consideration.

ii) In the Province of Khyber Pukhtunkhwa through their Small Industries Development Board has nine schemes for improvement of industrial activities in Small Industrial Estates. There are wood working/carving centers, Butgram and Jareed, Small Industries Estates Mardan, Phase-III, Charsada, Peshawar, Phase-II, Abbottabad, Phase-II, Malakand, Karak and Carpet Nagar, Peshawar.
